Zhang Yongsheng is Vice-Director-General and Research Fellow of Department of Development Strategy and Regional Economy, at the Development Research Center of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China (DRC), He is also a Visiting Professor at Renmin University of China.
Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Monash University, Australia and worked as a Visiting Scholar in United Nations University, World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU/WIDER).
His research interests mainly focus on development economics, climate change and green growth, structural reforms in China. He is the author of some influential policy reports, including a joint report by the World Bank and DRC on seizing opportunity for green development in China.
In recent years, he has been doing systematic research on climate change and green growth (CCGG) in the perspective of the division of labor, towards creating a new narrative of CCGG. He has also been assessing how to achieve the paradigm shift of development in China, especially on how to accelerate the development in poor regions through green development.
Yongsheng holds a PhD in Economics from Renmin University of China.
