Ying Fan is a Professor and the Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Beihang University. She is also the Director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research(CEEP), a joint center of Beihang University, IPM at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and CNPC. Before joining Beihang University, she has had 25 years experience in CAS. She visited Cornell University in the U.S. as a visiting scholar from 2004 to 2005. She has been Vice President for Academic affairs of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) since 2016.
She has carried out over 60 research projects, published over 200 papers in peer reviewed journals, including the Energy Journal, Energy Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, Energy Policy, Energy, Technical Forecasting and Social Change and Environmental Impact Assessment Review. She has received awards for her work, including a research grant for distinguished young scientists sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), a Special Government Allowance honored by the State Council, and the Hundred Talents Programme sponsored by the CAS.
Her research and teaching fields include energy economics, energy-environment-economy system modeling, emissions trading, climate change, energy and environmental policy. She is leading projects on the design and social-economic impact analysis of ETS in China and a project on energy system transmission and policy analysis.
