Post-Coal Future Lab

Establishing platform for sharing experiences of stakeholders affected by coal transitions in selected countries.

Year: 2022 Current Project

  • Overview

Climate Strategies in partnership with Wise Europa, the European Regional Framework for Cooperation, and Impact Hub Praha are currently establishing a Post-Coal Future Lab (PCFL). The PCFL will have two streams, a Main Lab and Mini Labs.

The Main Lab will ease collaboration, collective problem solving, and knowledge-sharing among affected people to achieve a just transition. It will also build capacity  around just transitions and systemic transformation. The focus will be on selected countries in Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe.

The regional Mini Labs will bring together diverse stakeholders in Poland (Silesia & Wielkopolska), Czechia (Moravian-Silesian Region), and Greece (Western Macedonia). Their aim is to ease dialogue, knowledge-exchange, and establish a community of practice. They will also identify challenges to just transitions and systemic transformation, and develop collective solutions as to how to tackle these challenges.

By sharing knowledge and experiences between the mini and main labs, the project partners aim to learn from continued feedback, apply and share relevant lessons.

The project is funded by EIT Climate-KIC and over the course of the project there will be close collaboration between the PCFL consortium and other Climate-KIC projects.
