How We Work

How We Are Funded

Climate Strategies is currently funded through our involvement in projects. These projects—ranging from research initiatives to policy dialogues—address critical issues across a broad climate, energy and development fields.

We maintain our independence by drawing from a diverse pool of funding (from sources that align with our values) and are always open to new funders. Find out how you can approach us with ideas, projects or opportunities below!

Our funders include the European Commission, philanthropies, research institutes, climate funds, the UNFCCC and more.

You can find a complete list of our funders here.

Climate Strategies Membership is free. Becoming a Member starts with a nomination followed by a rigorous approval process. While membership does not represent a direct funding source for the organisation, the invaluable engagements and expertise provided by our members play a key role in the success of our projects and our access to new research opportunities.

How We Operate

Climate Strategies operates with a small, dedicated team, the Secretariat, supported by our international network of members. Our work is structured around collaborative projects that bring together researchers, policymakers, and more to address specific climate challenges.

Our Secretariat leads projects, coordinates stakeholder engagement, manages logistics, secures funding, facilitates engagement and communications, and more.

Our organisational model is centred on transparency, guided by our Charter of Independence, which ensures that all research and activities are conducted with the highest standards of integrity and impartiality.

“For the past 20 years, Climate Strategies have been a proud catalyst of robust climate research driving real action and impact. Our goal is to improve the wellbeing of our planet and ecosystem as a whole. We are always excited to discover, and help you introduce new dimensions across various topics and emerging trends. We don’t shy away from controversial issues; instead, we thrive in addressing them. Contemporary societal and planetary challenges cannot be addressed in isolation. We see the need to, and strive to break down siloes across, sectors, countries, and cultures.”
