Michel Colombier is Scientific Director and Co-Founder at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI). He is also an Associate Professor at Sciences-Po,  Paris.

Previously, he was Director General of the International Consulting on Energy (ICE), developing activities at both local and international level. He has also been a Senior Advisor in the cabinet of the Minister of Energy in France; Head of the Strategy and Evaluation Department of Ademe (French Agency for Environment and Energy), and Programme Manager for the Ministry of Environment in Portugal.

He served as member of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel of the GEF (Global Environment Facility) and the FFEM (Fonds Français d’Environnement Mondial), Negotiator in the UNFCCC process and Director of the Board of Climate Strategies.

He is a Doctor of Economics and an agricultural engineer in training.
